Heat kick-start pre-season, Cavs lose
The Miami Heat won their first match of the NBA pre-season, while the Cleveland Cavaliers finally lost on Friday.
Chris Bosh, Luol Deng and Shawne Williams all produced big numbers as the Heat rallied to beat the Golden State Warriors 115-108 at Sprint Center in Kansas City.
Trailing by 12 points at the final change, the Heat outscored the Warriors 32-13 in the fourth quarter to improve to 1-4 in pre-season.
Star centre Bosh posted 21 points and seven rebounds in 33 minutes on court, while new recruit Deng and Williams scored 19 points apiece.
Shabazz Napier and Mario Chalmers combined for 27 points off the bench.
Klay Thompson had a game-high 29 points for the Warriors but it was not enough to prevent Golden State from losing their first pre-season game.
David Lee contributed 24 points, while Draymond Green (13 points) and Harrison Barnes (12 points) were the only other Golden State players to reach double figures.
At Quicken Loans Arena, the Dallas Mavericks upstaged the previously unbeaten Cavaliers 108-102.
Chandler Parsons and Jameer Nelson both finished with 19 points as the Mavericks notched their second pre-season victory.
Veteran forward Dirk Nowitzki added 16 points and nine rebounds for the visitors.
The Cavaliers were led by point guard Kyrie Irving, who had a game-high 23 points.
Four-time MVP LeBron James scored 12 points, while Tristan Thompson produced a double-double display with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
High-profile recruit Kevin Love did not play for Cleveland.
In other results, Terrence Ross sank 22 points as the Toronto Raptors accounted for the Oklahoma City Thunder 109-90.
Jonas Valanciunas chipped in with 14 points for the Raptors.
Oklahoma City - minus injured reigning MVP Kevin Durant - were led by Russell Westbrook and his 16 points and eight assists.
The Charlotte Bobcats were too strong for the Washington Wizards, winning 96-86.
Tobias Harris (22 points) led the Orlando Magic to a 99-87 victory over the Detroit Pistons.
The Memphis Grizzlies eased past Brazilian side Flamengo 112-72, while the Minnesota Timberwolves lost 105-98 to the Milwaukee Bucks.
Israeli team Maccabi Haifa were crushed 121-74 and the Los Angeles Clippers won for the first time in pre-season courtesy of a 101-97 triumph against the Utah Jazz.
